Microdermabrasion

Microdermabrasion, also known as "derma peel", is a technique for skin refreshening which originated in Europe, and is now available at the Institute.  The treatment consists of tiny aluminum oxide sand crystals which are gently propelled against the skin through a wand and vacuumed from the skin simultaneously.  Immediately after the treatment, the skin feels smoother and the complexion becomes more even and glowing.   It is helpful for the roughness and skin irregularities left from sun damage, but can also be helpful for acne patients, or those who just want to improve the general look of their complexion.  The best results are obtained by multiple treatments which can be repeated as soon as every other week.  There is no wound care involved, and one can go right back to normal activities after treatment.
