Hair Removal

Hair removal is performed using an LPIR, or Long Pulse InfraRed Laser.  It utilizes the latest laser technology to remove hair with minimal pain, inconvenience, and side effects.  The laser emits a powerful beam of invisible light which passes harmlessly through the skin, but is absorbed by the hair follicle.  By selectively absorbing the laser energy, the hair follicles are disabled, impairing their ability to grow hair.  The laser has been designed to treat only the hair follicle while leaving surrounding tissue unaffected.  As a result of this specificity, almost all skin types may be safely treated.

Treatment consists of a series of laser pulses often accompanied by a tingling or slight burning sensation.  The majority of patients tolerate this sensation without topical anesthetics though the latter may be prescribed if desired.  Shortly after treatment, the area may become pink or red, and may feel like a mild sunburn for a day or so.

The laser can only disable hair follicles that are actively producing hair at the time of treatment.  At any time, some hair follicles are dormant.  Since the follicles are producing hair at different times, several visits are necessary for complete hair removal.

Consultations for hair removal are free.
