Cosmoderm^® and Cosmoplast^® are both human-based collagens and have essentially replaced the bovine collagen products released in the early 1980’s. No skin testing is required. They are used to fill superficial fine lines, wrinkles, and some acne scars. Possible side effects include redness, tenderness, swelling, and bruising, which usually resolve within a few days. Cosmoderm^® and Cosmoplast^® last approximately 3 months.
