| Radiesse® is used to fill moderate to severe facial wrinkles, folds, and depressions. It works especially well to augment fullness in the cheeks and is a good option for people who have lost fullness in their face due to aging or HIV. Radiesse® provides immediate correction. It consists of calcium hydroxylapatite microspheres suspended in a sodium carboxymethylcellulose gel carrier which is a biocompatible, biodegradable material. It is the same composition as the mineral portion of bone and teeth. Radiesse® is injected directly into the skin with a very small needle. Topical or local numbing is used to reduce any discomfort during the treatment. After the treatment, you may have some redness, tenderness and swelling, which resolves in a few days. As with any injection, bruising is always a risk. Radiesse® results can last up to a year or more for many patients. Individual results depend on age, skin type, lifestyle and how quickly your body metabolizes the material. |
