BOTOX® & Dysport®
BOTOX® Cosmetic and Dysport® are both Botulinum toxin A, natural, purified proteins that have been tested and used in millions of patients. They have been used medically to treat a variety of conditions for more than 30 years, attesting to their safety.
These injections, also known as neurotoxins, have been the number one nonsurgical cosmetic procedure performed in the United States since 2003, with over 6.1 million procedures performed in 2013 alone. They are used mostly for the treatment of wrinkles between the eyes, lateral eyelids, forehead, nose, lips, chin and neck. They produce dramatic results giving one a more youthful, rested, and less wrinkled appearance. Frown and forehead lines as well as “crow’s feet” become less noticeable and may even disappear over time with repeated treatments. They work by inhibiting the release of acetylcholine, thereby blocking the action of the treated muscles. They minimize and can even erase wrinkles that are caused by repetitive facial expressions, sun, and smoking.
They are quick and easy to administer with just a few tiny injections that cause only minimal discomfort. The effects of BOTOX® Cosmetic and Dysport® in wrinkles last approximately three months. When they wear off, wrinkle lines will gradually revert to their pretreatment appearance if not retreated.
Dr. Diana Parnell is one of the earliest injectors of cosmetic neurotoxins. She has used neurotoxins in her practice since 1995 and has taught many physicians and nurses in its proper administration.
BOTOX for Hyperhidrosis (Excessive Sweating) & Migraines
BOTOX® injections are also effective for treating excessive sweating in any area. The most commonly treated areas are the underarms and palms. Treated patients can achieve an eighty-nine plus percent reduction in sweat production with effects lasting for six to twelve months.
Many patients with migraines and tension headaches can also be effectively treated with BOTOX®.
