Broad Band Light (BBL)
~ also known as Intense Pulsed Light (IPL) or Photofacial
Broad band light is a non-ablative skin rejuvenation procedure that is used to improve facial appearance by reducing or removing brown spots and dilated blood vessels. The face, chest, shoulders, arms, and hands are the most commonly treated areas. Good results are often obtained in one or two treatments, although multiple treatments may be required. The treated areas appear pink like mild sunburn immediately after the procedure. The brown spots darken prior to flaking off over the next 1-3 weeks. The face typically heals within a week with other areas following soon after.
Since BBL/IPL is a broad band of light, it is actually not a laser. A laser, by definition, has only a single band of light.
